Things You Should Know:

Priest in trouble after jogging
in the nude (from Houston Chronicle):

A Catholic (I'm assuming Roman and not Anglican) priest in Frederick, Colorado, faces an indecent exposure charge after jogging in the nude about an hour before sunrise. The Rev. Robert Whipkey told officers he had been running naked at a high school track and didn't think anyone would be around at that time of the day, a police report said. He said he sweats profusely if he wears clothing while jogging.

Comment 1: At a minimum he could wear a pair of shorts.

Comment 2: Did they find any altar boys?

Comment 3: He should run Bay To Breakers in San Francisco and hook up with the Bare To Breakers group.

I'm a minority majority

The Census Bureau is going to release some new stats today. (from Houston Chronicle):

Harris County gained 121,400 minority residents between 2005 and 2006, which led the nation. Harris now has a minority population of 2.5 million, comprising 63% of its total.

Hispanic: 38.2%
White: 36.9%
Black: 18.4%
Asian: 5.3%
Other: 1.2%
Total population: 3,886,207

The county's Hispanic population now ranks second in the country, tied with Miami-Dade and behind Los Angeles.

Counties with largest population (% by race):

99% White: Mitchell County, Iowa
97% Hispanic: Starr, Texas
88% American Indian/Alaskan Native: Shannon, South Dakota
85% Black: Claiborne, Mississippi
34% Asian: San Francisco, California

Guess I need to brush up on my Spanish?

Run Forrest! Run!

Steven Karpas from the Chevron Houston Marathon is reporting a YTD 310% increase in registrations for the marathon and a 346% increase in registrations for the half-marathon. You see...for the past couple of years these events have sold out due to space limitations.

Considering how many people I've seen out running on the weekends I'm sure these two events will sell out even earlier than they did last year. If I'm gonna do one of these in January 2008, I need to bump it up! I only did 4 miles this morning.
