Did you see this?

I was stunned and amazed last week when US Airways Flight #1549 crashed into the Hudson River and everyone survived. The pilot is a true hero and so are the rescue workers and ferry boat operators who safely rescued everyone. Leave it to the ferries to help save the day.

My Facebook friends were updating their status with words of amazement. I of course suggested that Dick Cheney apply for the job of shooting geese near La Guardia since as of this past Tuesday he is unemployed. So, with all of the hoopla about the inauguration of No Drama Obama I sort of forgot about the plane crash until I checked in with David Dust. He posted this photo of a billboard. Ya just gotta love Kenneth Cole!

P.S. Kenneth Cole...if you're reading this...would you PLEASE bring back your Bottoms Up shoe for men? That is like my favorite shoe of all time. Please? Thanx!

At Last

I'm not sayin' this just because she is a hometown girl. And maybe it was the moment. Beyoncé knocked it out of the ballpark last night at The Neighborhood Ball.

For the Obamas' first dance, Beyoncé sang At Last. Etta James would have been so proud. And on top of that, Beyoncé looked flawless. It was the perfect song for the perfect moment.

In case you missed it, here it is.

Congratulations!

Today was a busy day and I had hoped to stream the Inauguration of Barack Obama on CNN but by the time I got around to it, their server was overloaded and I couldn't get on to the MSNBC site so I listened to it via CNN radio on the web.

I had rehearsal for the Krewe Ball tonight so I have missed all of the balls.

On top of everything else I missed Aretha Franklin's hat!

As many of you know, Obama was not my first choice. I was and still am a Clintonista. During the primaries, I raised HILL! I'm glad there is a place for Hillary in the new cabinet.

I hope that President Obama checks out my blog tonight because I am sending him a high five! I wish you the best and I hope that you are successful in achieving your goals and making a change for us all.

In other news...

Friend Kathryn was in DC today and I when I called her this morning she answered! She was in front of the Capitol looking at the mass of people and waiting for the ceremony to begin. Can't wait for the pics on Facebook!

I called Friend Lyndon and Friend Chris who live in Arlington, VA. They opted to not fight the crowds and to watch everything on the telly. I asked if they were going to any Balls and Lyndon said they were staying in with the cats. To which I replied, "Oh. You're going to the Fur Ball!" (I crack myself up!)

Nice set of legs you have there

This coming Sunday is the running of the Chevron Houston Marathon. In addition to the marathon, there is a 1/2 marathon and a 5K. For the first time since 1998, Str8 Up With A Twist will not be participating in any of the events.

Some might think it is because I am holding a grudge over something that happened this past Summer. Could be but not really.

Actually I will be doing a road trip with The Calvinator. One of cousins is getting married this weekend.

I'm sort of going to miss all of the hoopla that goes with marathon weekend but maybe it it is good for me to step back from it. I haven't been real keen on running these days so this may be the definite break that I need.

To all of those who are running, good luck. Run hard! Run strong!

To all of the spectators, enjoy the eye candy. Cheer hard! Cheer strong!

Scenes From A Saturday Night in Houston - Krewe of Olympus 12th Night Party

Mardi Gras season has officially begun! It started on January 6. And even though the Krewe's 12th Night Party wasn't on the 12th day of Christmas, it gave us a reason to throw a party!

Scenes From A Friday Night in Houston - Cabaret For A Cure

On Friday evening, Legacy Community Health Services was the beneficiary of Cabaret For A Cure. This was an evening of musical entertainment, good food, many adult beverages, stunning reparteé, and lots of laughter. The gliterati of Houston were in attendance.

Emcee for the evening was Deborah Duncan (who knew she could sing?).

Performers included: Ken Gayle, Deidrie Henry, The Richard Brown Orchestra, La Kisha Jones, Todd Honeycutt, Bubba McNeely, Moodafaruka, Hang Neil, Melissa "Sky" Shepherd, Shaun Smith and Adam Tendler.

The headliner for the evening was Diane Schuur! Diane Schuur is one of those performers who was on my list of "Must See Before I Die." Don't worry. It is a long list and I'm not planning on dieing anytime soon.

It really was a great evening and all for a great cause: HIV/AIDS Programs at Legacy. A special shout out to Paul-David Van Atta (Legacy Board Member) and the staff at Legacy for doing such a great job!

AC 360 - Caption This

I love watching Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN but what I really like is when the post the pic on their blog and ask people to provide a caption.

The other day this was posted.

A group of Oriental small-clawed otters line up on a rock at the ZSL London Zoo during the zoo’s annual stocktake (census) on January 8, 2009 in London, England.

The winning caption was, "And if you stand on your tippy toes, you can see Alaska from here."

I literally LOL when they put that on the telly.

Shrinkage exposed

By now you may or may not have heard about the guy who was on the ski lift and something went wrong and then it went WAY WRONG. You see...

When we started to fall out of the lift he also came out of his pants. I immediately thought of two things:
1. Shrinkage
2. The song Bad Day by Daniel Powter

New Year's Eve...in case you missed this

LOL LOL LOL LOL

That's what I did when I watched a tape version of CNN's coverage from Times Square. I was sorta watching it when I was preparing to go out for the evening. Here is a picture of Sushi was sitting in a shoe in Key West waiting for the stroke of midnight. At midnight, the shoe was lowered. Sushi has a thing for Anderson Cooper.
Then there is this photo of Bill & Hillary Clinton dancing. They were in Times Square to push the button to make the ball drop. Music was playing and they started dancing. I'm willing to bet it was Hillary's idea to dance live on the telly. She probably told him, "Yes, you campaigned for me. Yes, you turned over the donor files for your library so that I could become Secretary of State. Now, you WILL dance with me. You are nowhere near forgiven for the Lewinsky fiasco so dance dammit! I SAID dance!" Then there is this clip of Kathy Griffin going off on someone in the crowd. I guess the guy told her she sucked. This clip is NSFW so wait until you are home. There were some other great moments (like the pole dancer in Atlanta who pretty showed the entire East Coast and Mid-America her vajayjay).

Once again, do not play this clip at work.
