Dryer Fire

This is a Public Service Announcement from Str8 Up With A Twist

Up until about 3 years ago I never thought twice about leaving the dryer running when I left the house or when I went to bed. I'm not sure what incited my fear of the dryer catching on fire. This video confirms my fears.

One of our close family friend's home burned to the ground because of a dryer fire. Horrible.

this totally freaks me out! i live in a large apt. bldg. and although I know enough to clean my lint trap, I doubt that many of the neighbors do. YIKES!

Did you get that mass e-mail a while back about washing the lint filter with water?

A film develops that needs to be rinsed with water to completely cleaned. Supposedly dryer sheets make it happen more often.

Snopes confirms it to be true:

I need to remember to do that...

BTW - dryer lint makes great campfire starter.

That's a good heads up Tim. I'm always letting it run when I go to bed or leave.
Did they say anything about navel lint causing fires?

I just came across this and thought I would share a product that can help prevent a dryer fire.

Check out http://vcisafety.org/

It's very simple and easy to use, it identifies lint build ups that are the leading cause of dryer fires.

I started a dryer cleaning business about 2 yrs. ago here in Toledo Ohio and I have yet to be able to get it off the ground due to most people being skeptics. The main problem is that most people don't think it will ever happen to them . My company doesn't just clean the vent line we disassemble the dryer to get to the motor and heating element because that is the first place a fire starts , in time the blower sends lint inside the dryer and blankets everything that gets hot such as the heating element and motor , and the end result is a deadly fire. Marketing this business has been a huge struggle for me because after looking at some of the customers dryers you point out its a ticking time bomb just waiting to go off they still say we'll think about it and call you , my biggest fear from that point is that I hope someone doesn't die while they think about it.
