It's always fun to catch up with Margo. We walked from her place to Dry Creek (which isn't dry anymore) and had a great time catching up over brunch. We needed a reason to celebrate so we toasted losing an hour worth of sleep.

As I See It - 03.11.16 - Into The Canyon
There has been quite a bit of construction happening in Houston. Cranes are everywhere and for the past year or so, I have watched this piece of Post Oak Blvd. change. The street isn't a straight line so the bend in the road makes these buildings look like they are on top of each other. And driving thru them feels like going into a canyon.

As I See It - 03.09.16 - Happy Holidays
You've heard the saying, "Better late than never." and such was the case when my co-workers and I gathered at la griglia for our holiday party. You see...
We were never able to get together for a Christmas party in December, or January, or February so why not march on into March? It's sort of like what I've always said about Thanksgiving...
You don't have to celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of the month. You express your thanks, and you should, any day of the week. #justsayin

As I See It - 03.06.16 - Sleeping Beauty
This is The Calvinator. I call him my Boogie Bear and at times people have said that he looks like a bear. I've been told to never "poke the bear" and especially when the bear is asleep.
As I See It - 03.05.16 - Beer, Wine and Vodka
It was a busy day. I ran errands and then made my way to Karbach Brewery for a Texas Wesleyan University alumni gathering.
I need to go back to the brewery and try the restaurant. I was very surprised at how many people were outside in the beer garden and how many people were inside eating.
From there, I went home and prepped for Stages Theatre's Talk Of The Town Gala at The Astorian. It was a Mad Men theme event and a good time was had by all.

As I See It - 03.03.16 - Who Are The People In Your Neighborhood?
I was behind these two cars about a block away from The Calvinator's Crib. It's nice to know that I'm surrounded by likeminded folks. And in case you can't read the bumper stickers, there is one for Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

As I See It - 03.02.16 - Read Aloud
Remember when I mentioned this? Well today was the day to wear it! It was Dr. Seuss's birthday.
Walnut Bend Elementary School was the host for the press conference for Read Aloud Month. Neal Bush, son of Barbara and President George Bush was there so it was cool to meet him. His mother was in the school reading to students but we didn't get to meet her.
Also, at several Legacy sites volunteers and staff took time out of the day to read to some of pediatric clients. Thank you to everyone who participated.

As I See It - 03.01.16 - Super Tuesday
Back in the olden days, or back in my day, Texas held its Democrat and Republican primaries sometime in May. From I what I can tell, Texas joined Super Tuesday in 1988 because it wanted to be a player on the big stage and wanted to have an early voice in the selection of candidates.
And so, this year Super Tuesday was held on March 1. My girl Hillary won Texas and the evening! Here's hoping she makes all the way to The White House!. Oh, and if you want to see all of the results for the evening, click here.

As I See It - 02.29.16 - I'm Not Sure What This Is
It's February 29 and I really don't have anything to say about Leap Year. #justsayin'
Even though it's technically not Spring, foliage is beginning to bloom. I spotted this by my car in the parking lot at work. I'm not sure what it is but my assumption is that it isn't poisonous.

As I See It - 02.28.16 - Decadent Desserts
I never thought I would say this but I had WAY too many sugary delights at AssistHers' Decadent Desserts event at Neon Boots.
Various restaurants, caterers and friends of the organization donated the sweet things for participants to partake of and I almost overdosed on sugar.

As I See It - 02.27.16 - Investitures
In February of 2015, it was announced that Legacy Community Health's Body Positive program would be the recipient of funds raised by E.R.S.I.C.S.S. Reign XXXI. This group raises money for various causes in Houston and they raise the money $1 at a time.
So...the grand totals were announced and Legacy received $15,616.86! And that was only our portion!
A big thank you to Empress XXXI Angela Mercy, Emperor XXXI Susan Hayes and the members who raised this money for us. Y'all are stellar!

As I See It - 02.26.16 - Voted
I don't normally participate in Early Voting but I was concerned about timing on Primary Day so I went to the West Gray Mult-Service Center to cast my votes in the Democrat Primary.

As I See It - 02.25.16 - Way Outside The Loop
For the second time in three months, I have traveled south of Houston and outside the Beltway to make my way to Baybrook Mall. I had a favor to ask of someone and she lives down that way so I went to her. I was thrilled when P.F. Changs was one of the restaurant options. I love me some P.F. Changs!

As I See It - 02.24.16 - Cat In The Hat
March 2 is the birthday of Dr. Seuss and I have been invited to a press conference for Read Aloud Month. Rather than resort to something costumey, I found this online and I think it is the perfect accessory to wear in honor of Dr. Seuss.

As I See It - 02.23.16 - Both Sides Now
There was a change in the weather today and clouds heralded the changes. From where I sit, I can look northwest and from I live I look west.

As I See It - 02.22.16 - Once Again, Back At la griglia
Monday at lunch found me back again at la griglia for a meeting. I decided to be adventurous and try the sesame crusted tuna. Normally when I eat tuna, it is out of a can and added to salad or it is the salad put between two pieces of bread. There was no need to do that with these pieces of tuna. The meal was yummy.

As I See It - 02.21.16 - Art On Dart
I read that someone had painted a mural in memory of David Bowie. I couldn't quite remember where it was but I remembered the general area, so off I went to Houston Avenue and Dart Street. I turned the corner onto Dart and poof there it was.

As I See It - 02.20.16 - What Happens In Vegas
So, I wasn't exactly in Vegas. I was still in Houston on Old Katy Road for OutReach United's Casino Night fundraiser. Two of my friends, April Ayers and Bryan Hlavinka, were co-chairs for the event. I'm not big on casino nights but it is always fun to mix and mingle with friends.

As I See It - 02.18.16 - National Wine Day
Somebody told me it was National Wine Day so I did. No, I didn't wine but I did have a glass of wine. Not the fanciest of vessels but hey it was free.
