Pic(s) Of The Day - 10.31.15 - Scenes From Halloween

Pic(s) Of The Day - 10.30.15 - The Eve Of All Hallows Eve

I didn't dress up for Halloween at work because I was meeting a new donor at lunch at Brasserie 19 and didn't want to make the wrong impression. However, a few of my co-workers did don costumes.

Later in the day, I was at Kroger on Studemont and saw this car decorated for Dia de los Muertos. Really cool artwork.

And because I waited until the last minute and rushed, here is my entry for the pumpkin decorating contest.

So...I was asked to decorate a pumpkin for the pumpkin decorating contest. I've never been big on pumpkin carving or decorating so I went to Michael's for inspiration and found this. And rather than decorate a real pumpkin, I purchased a small gourd at Kroger.

Pic Of The Day - 10.04.15 - I Couldn't Resist

I saw these Oreos at Target and couldn't resist. They taste like regular Oreos but I guess because they looked different I just had to have them. #dontjudge

Pic Of The Day - 10.12.14 - Shopping From A to Z

Many times when I go into a grocery store, I know exactly what I'm looking for and then there are times when I wander and find some unusual things like these skulls.  They were in the Halloween section at Kroger on W. Gray.

Pic Of The Day - 10.05.14 - Skeleton Flamingos

I always think it's odd when I get on a freeway to go grocery shopping but I do love the HEB on I-10 @ Bunker Hill.  And, I always find something interesting there.  On Sunday, it was the skeleton flamingos and some interesting Dia de los Muertos decorations.

Pic Of The Day - 09.03.14 - Sweet Corn

Maybe I'm late to the game but I just discovered these Candy Corn Nougats.  They're made by Brach's and they taste like Candy Corn but the consistency is different.  And fyi, they're yummy!

Halloween 2009

It was sort of odd this year. Halloween was on a Saturday night and a people chunk of the peeps that I roll with were in New Orleans. Normally on a Saturday I can walk into a myriad of bars and know oodles of people; not this year.

Kevin and I ran around together on Saturday evening into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Jim & Ben joined us at one point.

America's Next Top Pumpkin

I'm really trying to catch up with events of the past week. So, last Wednesday a friend of mine decided to have a pumpkin carving party modeled (pun intended) after America's Next Top Model. I do have have some friends with creative minds. ANTP was hosted by Not So Tyra.

Here are some photos. To see more, click here.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

I saw this about a week ago and was so disturbed by it that I went back a few days later to take the picture.

and there is this video. The first few seconds are worth replaying. It made me giggle.

Happy Merry Halloween Christmas Everyone!

Ramblings Of A Caffeinated Mind 17.1

URGGHHH!
OK. So despite this being a busy week I also wanted to increase my level of fitness activities. Who knew that this stuffy nose & sore throat would wear me down? I have done one run and one weight workout this week. I was going to get up early this morning and go for a run but I just didn't have it in me. Then I was going to go workout after work but considering that I never had a decent meal today I had no energy. Someone at work even noticed that I had not eaten anything for lunch because she said I was tanking. Things at work will calm down next week so maybe my eating and fitness will get back on schedule.

Debates
I tried to watch the debate last night between Barack Obama and John McCain. I was not entertained.

When the adults would speak all that you could hear was "Wah wah wah." That's what I heard last night when I turned on the telly. Obama: "Wah, wah, wah." McCain, "Wah, wah, wah." I can't remember what I watched but I know it wasn't much of the debate.

I actually enjoyed the Biden/Palin debate last week. I was always a sucker for freak shows at the circus. I'm just sayin'.

Costume
I need a costume idea. I've been invited to a Halloween Party on the 17th and I really haven't had much time to think of a costume. Any ideas? Suggestions are welcome.

What if...
you paid invited a big name celebrity to be the guest speaker at a fundraiser luncheon and he/she didn't show up? Just askin'...and yes it happened yesterday.

Flashback!

Wow! I just remembered something.

Five years ago today I was packing my bags and getting ready to leave for Sydney. I wasn't concerned about Halloween because my itinerary had me leaving for LAX around 700P and then catching an 1100P flight to SYD.

In theory, I never should have seen Nov. 1, 2002. However we had a flight delay and I spent part of the evening in the Qantas Club watching live coverage of the Halloween festivities in WeHo.

It was well past midnight before we boarded the plane and took off for SYD. If I remember correctly, that was an 18 hour flight and after a few cocktails I went to sleep. Missed out on most of the food service in Business Class.

I did get up a few times and walk around and let me tell you...there's nothing like an 18 hour cocktail party at cruising altitude of 30K feet!

I was more concerned about being rested, not drunk and ready to hit the ground running when I met with Steve and Baron in SYD.

That was a fun trip and I would love to go back to SYD. I *heart* Sydney!

Happy Halloween

I took this photo the other night at the Habitat For Humanity Yelloween Party. It was an image being projected into the swimming pool. (That is the skimmer and not a spider.)
