So last Friday night (October 23, 2009), a group of people had a Halloween Party at the BRB. As you can see by these photos, a fun time was had by all. To see more photos, click here.
It has been a very, very busy week and I have photos to share but I haven't downloaded them yet and not sure when I will get a chance to do so! OY!
Sunday was the 7th Annual Miss Mint Julep Contest. Miss Ginger Grant has done a great recap here.
This event is known for launching the career of many performers. Seven years ago, Kaye Sedilla made her debut and the entertainment world has never been the same. This year, Kitty Kash made her debut and brought down the house! She even did an encore and being true to her name, she brought in the cash. These photos are from Bryan H. Speaking of Kaye Sedilla, she sent her 1/2-brother Ben Chilada and The Chimichangas to perform on her behalf.
Nasty rumors were floating around the BRB about the whereabouts of Kaye Sedilla. It has been noted before that Kaye is in rehab in Palm Springs. However, someone stated that she is being detained there because she has been slinging tortillas at the other residents. Someone else said that she really isn't in Palm Springs but that she has been deported because she was caught smuggling wigs and falsies. I overheard someone else say that Kaye was being detained in Palm Springs because she can't pay her bill. Now THAT is probably the truth.
This was seen on the side of milk cartons that were at the BRB. Do think we can find Kaye and bring her back in 2010?
Jukebox Wednesday is dedicated to Kitty Kash. You can view the real video (which won't let me post it) here or below you can view Katy Perry performing Waking Up In Vegas.
I actually had another song selected for today's Jukebox Wednesday. However, since this is Pride month I thought I would select one of the anthems. There are several recordings of this song that I like. Gloria Gaynor does a "get off your feet and dance to beat" version of the song. The Original Cast recording from La Cage Aux Folles is good too. However, my favorite recording that I couldn't find on YouTube is by Linda Eder. That lady belts it out like it was meant to be sung.
I chose this song today because the other day at Miss Ginger's Roundup, someone decided to perform and wanted this song. I was outside and someone came running up to me asking if I had this on a cd in my car? Believe it or not, the answer was, "No." And then I looked at Kevin in wonderment as to why I don't have it in my car on a cd? I have several versions on the iPod.
So for your listening (and viewing pleasure), here is John Barrowman singing, I Am What I Am. Enjoy!
Noted performer, philanthropist, fundraiser and lady about town, Miss Ginger Grant held a fundraiser yesterday for Legacy Community Health Services. I still don't understand the math, even if Miss Ginger did give a math lesson, on how rounding up would raise more money but it worked and Miss Ginger has reported via her blog that $10,000 was raised.
Not only did Miss Ginger Grant round up some money, she rounded a gaygle of performers to assist with the endeavor. The glitterati and fashionistas flocked to the BRB to be a part of the crowd. As you can see by the photos, a good time was had by all.
From the home office on Roy Street in NoRO, Str8 Up With A Twist says, "SAAAA-LUTE Miss Ginger Grant!" You're the best.
I have often been told and I have often self-described myself as being multi-faceted and eclectic. Yesterday was a good example.
Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday and also Mardi Gras weekend. I was invited to a couple of parties and wanted to give an appropriate host gift. So...I purchased some pom poms in the Mardi Gras colours, found some football and cheerleader beads, threw in some plastic hand clappers and strands of Mardi Gras beads. I was set!
The first stop was Joel and Arnold's Super Bowl Chili Cook-off Party. Guests could enter the cook-off and have their chili voted on by other attendees. I was surprised at the number of entries. I didn't taste all of the entries and I can't remember all of the names & ingredients. You see...there was also a big bar set up so adult beverages were also a part of the festivities.
This is Wayne with his chili. This is PC with his tribute to Heath Ledger. I believe the name of his & Mike's chili was I Can't Quit You Chili.
Here is a bowl of I Can't Quit You Chili. I thought they had two bowls of green onions. Instead it was one bowl of green onions and one bowl of fresh jalapeno peppers. I now have more hair on my chest because I put a big dollop of peppers on my chili. Here is Jim Sikorski with his Rehab No No No Chili.
Here is Jeremy with his Hollywood Chili strategically placed.
Here is Kenny In Montrose (KIM) with DJ Chad. DJ Chad thought Jeremy's chili might win some sort of a prize if he took off his shirt...so he did.
Here is Jeremy showing his...chili.
I needed to leave, go home and walk The Calvinator and get to the next party. On my way out of Joel & Arnold's, I started a campaign for Jeremy to win the Congeniality Award for his chili. I showed everyone his pic on my camera. Samantha from Sex In The City would have so proud of me. I thought I did a great job as his publicist.
I found out later that he did win the Congeniality Award.
I made my way over to Joe & Eric's Party. I missed the opening and the kick-off but oh well. Fun crowd, good food and Elaine pouring adult beverages. Doesn't get better than that!
And just in case you're wondering if I watched the game, the answer is yes. I even took a photo of the game on the flat screen tv!
From Joe & Eric's I went and picked up Steven and we headed over to the BRB for an ERSICSS show. Some friends were performing and it is always fun to see them put on a show.

So that is a brief review of yesterday afternoon & evening. It was a good distraction. As I've stated before, I'm sorta wishing I was in New Orleans right now. ;-)
