Pic Of The Day - 04.27.15 - It's 5:00 Somewhere

I always forget how strong the Margaritas are at El Real. It doesn't help that I started drinking at 4:00P + it was a work meeting. Oh well. YOLO

Pic Of The Day - 04.06.15 - Opening Day

It's been a few years since I've been to Opening Day for the Astros. So...on Monday, a group attended Opening Day.

Part of our group got stuck in traffic and then we all stuck in line trying to get into Minute Maid Park so we missed the singing of the National Anthem and the first pitch.

By the time we were on the Club Level, I was parched and hungry so I stood in line at El Real waiting for some chicken quesadillas. There was one hitch; they're made to order. Everyone in front of me ordered some type of quesadilla and we all held up the line.

Then I needed a vodka tonic and all I can say is that bar at section 206/207 didn't have their groove going. It was not a well oiled machine. People behind me in line were served before me. People on the stadium side of the bar were served before me. The cash register ran out of receipt tape. I was given ginger ale instead of tonic. OY!

I know it was Opening Day so maybe in a few days, they'll be in the groove. And let's hope the Astros have a groovy season and make it a winning season!

Pic(s) Of The Day - 12.01.14 - World AIDS Day

Legacy Community Health Services co-sponsored the candlelight vigil this year.  It took place at the Montrose location.  Montrose Center and City of Houston co-sponsored the event.

For the second year in a row, I led the effort to have the building bathed in red ribbons.  Our neighbor, El Real, acknowledged the day with a message on their marquee.

World AIDS Day-2014

I can't let today go by without recognizing today as being World AIDS Day.  It is a day that brings attention to the fact that the disease is still with us and hopefully one day we will be at zero infections.

Tonight Legacy Community Health Services hosted Houston's World AIDS Day candlelight vigil.  It was co-sponsored by the City of Houston and Montrose Center.

Once again, we lit our Montrose building with a sea of red ribbons. And, our neighbor El Real Tex-Mex acknowledged the day on their marquee.

Today always takes me back to people I know who have died from AIDS.  This gives you some background.

Pic of the day - 01.17.14

So...last night, after some adult beverages at El Real Tex-Mex, I walked back to my car at the office.  Rather than cross in the middle of Westheimer, I decided to be a law abiding citizen and use the crosswalk at a controlled intersection.

The lights in the window at Light Bulbs Unlimited really caught my eye.

Photo - January 4, 2012

I'm not sure how much was spent on the neon for this restaurant but they did an excellent job! This space was formerly the Tower Theater. I don't know much about it because by the time I moved to Houston, it was vacant and then was converted to a Hollywood Video Store.

The food is good and the margaritas will kick your ass. I have determined that two is my limit at El Real.
