Pic(s) Of The Day - 11.15.14 - The Calvinator's Upper Kirby Crib

I took The Calvinator to his new crib to let him check it out.  He wasn't so sure about the balcony but eventually he went outside and started his neighborhood watch.  I'm not sure if he realizes that we our new zip code encompasses part of River Oaks.  So yes, we are The Jefferson.  We've moved on up to a "dee-luxe" apartment in the sky...sort of.

Pic Of The Day (1) - 04.16.14

On Wednesday night, Legacy kicked off Lights of Legacy at the home of Melanie Gray and Mark Wawro in River Oaks.  It was a nice evening to meet new people and tell Legacy's story.

Pic Of The Day - 02.14.14

And I bet you thought I would do another SAD posting.  Well, there's one on my Instagram page.  I went to a SAD party at work.  I also went to a fabulous dinner party that had SAD decorations.

The dinner party was at a fabulous house in River Oaks.  There were four couples and two singles.  The hosts made sure the couples didn't sit next to each other so that is always fun.  Also, I never thought I would be playing bingo in a house on Kirby Drive.  It was a fun night.

On my way to dinner, I snapped this photo.  It was a full moon that was very bright.  I was at a stop light when I snapped the pic.

The B!tch Is Back

I'm glad Kaye Sedilla only comes to town once a year. She arrived this afternoon from Buenos Aires and went on and on and on about nothing. She told me that she didn't fly Coach, Business or First. She flew in the cockpit and sat on the pilot's lap most of the time. Not only is she a diva she is also a puta. She's going out with a bang (read between the lines).

And being the diva that she is, when we approached NoRO she saw all of the police on Shepherd, Memorial, Kirby and Allen Pkwy. She thought they were there for her. I had to inform her that President Bush was in town and they were securing NoRO and River Oaks for his visit. She was a bit disappointed.

And being the diva that she is, she has finagled two songs for Sunday's benefit. (Is it proper etiquette to plan an encore?) She is performing in the first set and has made arrangements to do her encore in the third set.

If she weren't going into retirement/seclusion, I'd probably be putting her in her grave (alive)!

She wants me to remind you that Mr. & Miss Mint Julep is this Sunday at Rich's (or as she likes to call it, The Cha Cha Palace). The doors open at 1:30p.m. and the show starts at 2:00p.m. I'll be in the shadows taking care of her every whim.

In The Closet

A few years ago I was invited to a fundraiser at a swankienda in RO (River Oaks). The event was to be held outside on the terrace of the swankienda but it rained all day was still raining when the event started.

The event had to be held inside of the swankienda. The owners of the swankienda were some of the nicest most gracious people I have ever met. They told us we could walk around the house and to make ourselves at home. (I'm sure there was control room for the security cameras). Anywho.

This house was so big it had a basketball court off of the kitchen. Off of the main foyer was a movie theater. Upstairs had huge, HUGE I tell ya, bedrooms, bathrooms and closets.

I was trying to figure out a way to hide in one of the closets and live there. I figured I could live in the house for awhile and they would never find me. Should they find me, I would start speaking in the language of my people and tell them I was part of the cleaning crew and that I was new and that is why they didn't recognize me. I had it all planned out.

So the other day, I read this story on Yahoo! I guess this lady had heard my idea either that or great minds think alike.

Japanese woman caught living in man's closet
By MARI YAMAGUCHI, Associated Press Writer Fri May 30, 3:21 PM ET

TOKYO - A homeless woman who sneaked into a man's house and lived undetected in his closet for a year was arrested in Japan after he became suspicious when food mysteriously began disappearing.

Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man's closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday.

The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months.

One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed.

"We searched the house ... checking everywhere someone could possibly hide," Itakura said. "When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side."

The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man's house about a year ago when he left it unlocked.

She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman "neat and clean."

Last Night

You know it was a fun time when you wake up on Saturday morning and you slept all night on the couch in your puffy, pirate shirt!

It was an evening that was filled with a couple of odd coincidences.

Went with TFMJS to a fundraiser for Habitat For Humanity at the home of Lara and John Spalding. The house is on Kirby Drive in RO. With a stop light it took all of 5 minutes to get from NoRO to RO (that's how close I live to old and new Houston money.) Title sponsors for the evening were Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Belvedere Vodka with catering by Tony's. Does it get much better than that!?

Odd coincidence #1:

Met a guy named Dave Daniels. VERY personable and outgoing. Tall with big hair (part of his costume). Something about him was familiar. Couldn't put my finger on it until he took the hair off later in the evening.

TFMJS told me that he is a former actor and he was on Capitol which was a short-lived soap opera. I realized when I got home he was the original Tyler McCandless (sp)! When he was an actor his name was David Mason Daniels. He now works for Habitat For Humanity and really loves his job.

Odd coincidence #2:

Many years a go I read a book by Tom Thompson, Blood and Money. It is a true story about a murder in RO. Dr. John Hill was put on trial for the murder of Joan Robinson Hill. He was never found guilty but ended up getting murdered. His former father-in-law supposedly paid to have John Hill murdered. (O.J. needs to take heed.)

So why am I telling you this? Well, the house we were in last night is the former residence of Dr. John and Joan Robinson Hill!

If you have ever viewed the movie, Murder In Texas, you will recall that Andy Griffith played Ash Robinson, Farah Fawcett play Joan Robinson Hill and Sam Elliott played Dr. John Hill.

Dr. John Hill poisoned Joan Robinson Hill by injecting poisonous bacteria into pastries and fed them to her. So last night there was a guy dressed as a surgeon carrying around a tray of chocolate eclairs with syringes stuck in the pastries.

Tom Thompson leaves some doubt as to whether or not John Hill is dead. You see, he was a plastic surgeon and volunteered his services at a prison (I think). Supposedly he fixed someone's face to look like him and maybe the wrong person was killed because...

Supposedly there was an American doctor living in Mexico who looks/looked like John Hill.

Interesting, isn't it?

BTW...the ballroom in this house had hidden closets. It looked like panels but I saw Mao Tse Tung open up a wall panel and get some wine. I also saw Leopard Lady open up another panel and the control panel for their sound system was in there. I was afraid to lean up against the wall in fear of a dead body falling out!
And in case you haven't figured it out, it was a Halloween party last night. Photos to follow.
