RECAP – Mystery & Fantasy Mardi Gras Party: Fairy Tales

Even though we are in the Lenten Season, Mardi Gras is still on my mind. Even though I didn’t make it to The Big Easy for the festivities, it was still a fun time in the Bayou City. My Mardi Gras Season consisted of attending the Krewe of Olympus-Texas ball, Galveston Mardi Gras with EPAH, the Diana Foundation Mardi Gras Party and of course Mystery & Fantasy Mardi Gras Party.

This year our theme was Fairy Tales and the theme really inspired people to be creative with their costumes. It was the night of 1,000 Red Riding Hoods, OK well maybe not that many but you get the idea. There were more than 7 dwarves, a few Prince Charmings, Mother Goose, and so you get the idea.

We received many compliments on the decorations. We transformed Rich’s into its own special Wonderland. Walt Disney would have been proud.

For my costume I decided to go as Antonio Banderas as Puss n Boots. That’s me in the cat mask. The other photos are of various guests and some of the decorations. To see more photos, visit John Cox’s photo album on Facebook.

Saturday Night (Jan. 19, 2008) Recap

Saturday night was Mystery & Fantasy Mardi Gras Party's A Pirate's Fantasy. A group of us rented Rich's to throw a party.
It is by invitation only. It is black tie with mask or theme costume. Last year we had about 1,100 people and judging by the crowd we probably had just as many. I'm not saying this because I belong to the group but it was by far the hottest ticket in town that night. Up until a few hours before the Mardi Gras party, people were still trying to score an invitation.
It's all about having fun. Complimentary well drinks & food. '70's & '80's dance music. And all the beads that you can catch.

And by the way...the glitter beard peeled off like snake skin. I was VERY relieved.

Ouch

I went to the Cha Cha Palace yesterday. Unhinged Productions had a fundraiser so I whirled in to see what was happening. Ginger Grant was competing in the Duke and Duchess of Darkness Pageant. It was very entertaining. And as it turns out, Ginger was crowned Duchess of Darkness.

Ginger did a number to Defying Gravity. It was a remix that I had NEVER heard and of course this morning I woke up singing it. I've already checked and Napster has it.

My left shoulder hurts. I have no idea what I did to cause this pain but when I woke up this morning it hurt to get out of bed. I went to LeFittes yesterday but I didn't do a strenous weight workout. So I don't know...

I feel better if I don't move. I didn't go running as planned because I knew that I wouldn't be able to put up with the constant motion of the arm moving. It hurts to tie my shoes.

I took some Aleve and it has helped a bit but it still aches. I managed to get The Calvinator over to Memorial Park. It is too beautiful of a day to keep him inside so we went for a long walk.

So I'm sitting here sort of trying not to move my left shoulder. I have jury duty tomorrrow. :-(
