These roses were at the post-reception for Melissa Manchester Unplugged benefiting Mission of Yahweh.  It was a great show for an intimate crowd.  The flowers were beautiful.

I couldn't find anything on my calendar for 10/22/14 and I couldn't find anything on camera roll and I was beginning to think I had erased the day from memory until...

I remembered it was a REALLY bad day!

Looking back on that day, it was a series of unfortunate events and phone calls.  It's been a long time since I've had one of those days and I don't appreciate them.  It's also been a long time since I have felt like I was going to have a stroke.  That statement isn't meant to be dramatic; it is a true statement.  I was afraid to have it checked because I probably would have been admitted to the ER.  And that too is a serious statement.

I really shouldn't let things get to me like that but they do.  Oh...and on top of everything else that day, I had to start packing up my workspace for a reconfiguration.

With everything going on, I stopped to smell the roses and have a drink.  I was invited to a happy hour at Julep and since I hadn't been there I decided to stop in have a Mint Julep.

I'm not a big bourbon drinker but that was a good drink.  It was served in the appropriate cup and had plenty of crushed ice.

(I'm not sure what the drink to the right is.  I tasted it.  It seemed to have a bite to it.)

Monday, October 20, 2014, was the 5th Annual Frank Billingsley Golf Classic presented by Houston Methodist and benefiting Legacy Community Health Services.  I manage and lead the event and while I did take some photos that day, I didn't take this one.  In fact, I was standing off to the side.

On the 19th, I stopped by Gloria's on Louisiana for a baby shower for the manager.  It was a Baby Daddy Shower but depending on how you say it, it could be misconstrued as a "Baby Daddy" Shower...which it wasn't.

There's A Thing Named "Life"...

and sometimes it gets in the way of blogging.  Quite a bit has been happening during the past two months and all of my spare time has been spent either working, looking for a place to live or moving.  My goal is to be caught up by the end of the year with all of my pics.  And in spite of my crazy schedule, I think I've only missed one day during the past weeks of not taking a photo.  Not bad if you ask me!

This light fixture looks like something you would find in the ocean but instead it is hanging from the ceiling.  The Hilton Americas has some really nice light fixtures.

As often as I eat out, I had never been to Vic & Anthony's.  While we were waiting for our guests to join us, I snapped this photo.

I have often stated that I am the equivalent of a seat filler at the Academy Awards.  Many times I am asked to attend a gala, dinner, reception, etc. because we have the space.  It may sound like I'm complaining but I'm not because I have been treated to some good cuisine and cocktails!

The night of the 16th was March of Dimes Cirque du Cuisine.  Many of Houston's top restaurants provided sample food and the beverages flowed.  It was a great evening for a great cause.

I honestly could not tell if these were real or fake!  I was at a private residence for a political fundraiser and these caught my attention.  I finally had to touch them.

First of all, I am SO FAR BEHIND in getting photos posted.  I do know that I have only missed one day without a photo.  My apologies to those of you who wait and wait and wait.

I feel like I have had a bit of a setback and normally I try to let things get to me.  It's been very difficult waking up in the morning.  I stopped my regular routine of going to the gym.  I was preoccupied and I let structure go.  Plus, I was working on an event for work so that was also consuming my time.

Enough said.  Here we go.

Victory Fund is planning it's Spring Brunch and the kick-off was at the Annise's (known as the Houston Mayor Annise Parker to you) house.  It was the perfect evening to be outside.
