When Love Came To Town

I woke up this morning to the news that The King Of The Blues had died, B.B. King.

I only saw him perform one time and it happened to be on November 24, 1987 in the arena of Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth. TCCC was the place for some of the concerts that would come through the DFW area. Dallas had opened Reunion Arena and competed for concerts. In November of 1987, U2 booked two shows in Fort Worth. On November 23, The Bodeans opened for U2 and on November 24 The Bodeans AND B.B. King opened for U2.

When Love Comes To Town premiered at the concert. They filmed the performance and used it in Rattle and Hum. I am accustomed to saying that I have been in a movie because when they pan the audience, I was there.

Today, many things have been said about B.B. King so I won't reiterate them. I will say that I am glad that I was able to see him perform and share his talents with the masses.

RIP B.B. and thank you for singing the blues.

What If You Put On The Super Bowl...

...and one team forgot to show up?

That's pretty much what happened yesterday for Super Bowl 48. The first play of the game Seattle Seahawks scored a safety because of huge error.  It really messed with the Denver Broncos minds and they were never in the game.  The final score was 43 - 8.  I became bored and spent most of my time on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram watching the feeds.

The Calvinator must of known it was going to be a snoozer because just before kickoff, he did this:
and stayed that way through most of the game.

FYI: Yesterday's score was not the biggest blowout.  The final score of Super Bowl 24 was 55 - 10 and guess who lost?  The Denver Broncos.  Are we seeing a pattern here?

I wasn't too impressed with the commercials.  There were some good ones: Radio Shack; Cheerios; T-Mobile; Budweiser; H&M; and Coca-Cola.  What I didn't expect was the hateful response to the Cheerios commercial AND the Coca-Cola commercial.  As far as we think we have come, we still have a long way to go.

If you're interested in showing how beautiful America really is and that the majority of us come from immigrants (whether they came freely or not), send your selfie to Coca-Cola and maybe you'll end up in Times Square!

And one last thing...
Another commercial promoted U2's Invisible.  If you download it before 11:59p.m. today(not sure what time zone), Bank of America will donate $1.  HURRY!

Jukebox Wednesday

OMG! About 10 minutes ago I remembered that it is Wednesday which means it is Jukebox Wednesday and I haven't posted anything. Come to think of it, I haven't posted anything since last Jukebox Wednesday. OOPS!

I've been busy doing things. Work. Not running much. Gym. Meetings. A party at Sloan/Hall on Friday night. A pool party on Saturday. Church. Work. If you're a friend of mine on Facebook, you have seen some photos uploaded from my Crackberry. Not the best resolution but pictures nonetheless.

So, here is my selection for Jukebox Wednesday. It is a song by U2. I have been to one U2 concert and that was in 1997. They brought The Joshua Tree Tour to Ft. Worth. They had a special guest that night...B.B. King! Yes! B.B. King! He performed once with them on the tour and I was there! You can see the footage from Rattle & Hum here. And if you look really hard into the vast, dark, people filled Tarrant County Convention Center Arena, you can see me.

One of my favorite U2 songs is I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. In Rattle and Hum, they go to a church in Harlem and sing the song with a gospel choir. When I saw this footage I realized that this is how the song was meant to be sung. Enjoy!
