Pic(s) Of The Day - 10.15.15 - You Have Me Hotter Than Georgia Asphalt

And so the gala, luncheon, fundraising season continues. On this day I was spotted at The Hobby Center for Society of the Performing Arts' Luncheon. Guest speaker was Laura Dern and to quote one of my co-workers, "She was quite lovely." She was also very interesting and insightful.

I wanted her to quote my favorite line from Wild At Heart but hence, she didn't. Life is full of disappointments.

Pic(s) Of The Day - 04.30.15 - A Balcony With A View

On Wednesday, I attended a reception for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Revelations Residency that is being presented by Society for the Performing Arts. The main reason I attended was because I wanted to go inside 2727 Kirby Drive. It is a high rise down the street from me that slants at an angle over Kirby Drive.

I'm really glad that I attended because there was a lady there from Alvin Ailey that was so inspiring. Her name is Nasha (sp). Nasha spoke about the work they do in the residency but also at the camps; truly inspirational.

This piece of art sits on a sliver of a median on Kirby Drive. I've never been able to get up close to it because of traffic. So...I was able to snap this view of it from the 7th floor.
Three different views from the terrace at 2727 Kirby Drive.

Pic Of The Day - 05.02.14

So...it was a busy week but it wasn't over on Friday.  However, I had a wonderful dinner at Bistro Lancaster and than walked over to Jones Hall to watch the performance of it gets better.

Before the show I was whisked into the green room and had a glass of champagne before the show.

I enjoyed the show.  I thought it especially touching when the cast members broke character and told there personal stories. It was also great to see the video (it gets better) from NASA Johnson Space Center.

I didn't take any photos during the show because I don't think I was allowed to do so.  So...here is a photo of Keith and Renita outside of the theatre.

Pic Of The Day - 04.28.14

Members of it gets better were at Legacy to talk about the program with members of Legacy's mSociety.  It was a great dialogue from both sides of the table!

it gets better

Last night members of the cast of it gets better  were at Legacy.  Our invited guests were staff and members of Legacy's mSociety.

I was very impressed with the discussion.  It was an educating experience from both sides of the table.

The cast is here in Houston this week.  They're bringing the message of it gets better; a message first brought to the forefront by Dan Savage in response to teen suicides due to bullying.

It was great to hear their personal stories.  It was fun to have lunch with them today at Sparrow.

So... on Wednesday night their will be piano cabaret karaoke at Guava Lamp starting at 9:30p.m.  This is your turn to "sing out Louise!"

Join us on Friday night at Jones Hall for the performance.  Tickets can be purchased at Society for the Performing Arts website.
