Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking at a Celebration of Life for John Danielson III. Unexpectedly, John passed away on September 13. There was a service on September 28 and it was very well attended. John touched many lives in Houston and the outpouring of condolences and the number of attendees was a testament to this.
The service yesterday was a smaller group of people and John's family was in attendance. They live in Washington State and were unable to be in Houston last week. It has been a difficult few months for the family. Their mother died a few months ago.
Yesterday's service coincided with National Vodka Day and at the service, wine and vodka were served. The room was adorned in Mardi Gras decorations. It was perfect for John.
I was able to get to know John when I joined the Mystery & Fantasy Mardi Gras Party. Also, he was always having meetings, parties and fundraisers at his home. He always greeted me with a big smile and a hug and always made sure that I had something to eat and drink.
John supported many organizations in Houston and I don't know if anyone will ever be able to determine the full impact he had on the city.
John will definitely be missed and leaves a void not only in my life but in the city of Houston.
Rest In Peace John.
