Whilst out strolling with The Calvinator, we happened across these pansies which just so happen to be Mardi Gras colours!

As I See It - 01.12.16 - The city that doesn't always sleep

This is a photo I snapped before I headed to bed. It was all quiet in The Calvinator's 'hood. It isn't always.

Because Houston has such a diverse economy, people work what many of us would consider unconventional hours. The refineries, the medical workers, and even companies that have their global headquarters here, have people working around the clock.

Pic Of The Day - 12.30.15 - Stepping Out Of The Box And Into The Bao

For over a year, I have wondered, "Is Fat Bao any good?" I had a hankering for Asian food but there isn't really anything fast on the way home and if I went to some place fast, then I have to go out of my way which offsets going to some place fast. Makes sense, right?

So...on my way to some place fast but out of the way, I decided to go to Fat Bao which is next door to The Calvinator's Crib. It took me a few minutes to figure out the menu but then I discovered the lunch special. I ended up with chicken and pork belly and homemade potato chips. #notbad

Earlier this year, the oleanders were in full bloom but there was this one bush that was covered in buds but just never really bloomed to it's full potential.

Whilst out with The Calvinator, I noticed the bush was sprouting some blooms.

It didn't take long for the apartment building to disappear. My guess is that it has to do with squatters and taxes. If the building isn't there, no one can go in and live there. Also, the value of the property is devalued. It's just a guess.

I was out walking The Calvinator and we took a different route. There was a huge puddle of water on Richmond Avenue and the sun just happened to be at the correct angle to catch its reflection in the street.

When The Calvinator and I moved into the Upper Kirby area of Houston, I noticed that the neighborhood was going through a transformation...and it continues.

There was a 20+ unit apartment complex that was probably built in the 1970s that has been demolished. The residents had to be out by July 31 and the building has come down. We'll have to see what happens next.

The Calvinator and I moved into the Upper Kirby/Alabama Place neighborhood last November. Since then, there has been quite a bit of demolition going on and new construction happening.

I guess you could we're hip and newness follows us.

Yes, more flowers continue to appear in the The Calvinator's 'hood. I don't know if this new 'hood has more variety or did I become blind to the variety of flowers in his previous 'hood? It's been fun exploring his new stompin' grounds.

I'm not sure what type of tree this is but one day it exploded in yellow blossoms. And then, the blossoms started to fall creating the illusion of a yellow river. OK, maybe more of a creek but you get the idea.

This is Trachelospermum jasminoides also known as Star Jasmine or Confederate Jessamine. Regardless of what you call it, it is pretty to look and smells lovely but it makes me sneeze.

In The Calvinator's previous 'hood, several neighbors had walls of it and well, it's the same thing in his new 'hood. It won't be around long.

I'm not sure what type of plant this is but it reminds me of an egg. It's in The Calvinator's Upper Kirby 'hood.

If you remember my photo of the other oleander, you can definitely tell this is white and the other has an orange tint.

Saturday was National Pet Day. This is how The Calvinator celebrated. Wait! He does this everyday!

Another night in a tuxedo and this time it was for Houston HRC. We were at the Westin Galleria and Ty Herndon performed a couple of songs for the guests.
