As I See It - 02.21.16 - Art On Dart

I read that someone had painted a mural in memory of David Bowie. I couldn't quite remember where it was but I remembered the general area, so off I went to Houston Avenue and Dart Street. I turned the corner onto Dart and poof there it was.

Coming back from lunch, I cut through the campus of University of St. Thomas and found this lonely snowperson. Then, later on when I was stuck in traffic on Richmond Avenue, I saw this cool art on a fence.

Driving around Houston you just never know what type of art you might see and such was the case on Sunday. These murals are on the building that was once the Social Security office and will soon be a Whole Foods.

I'm sort of all over the map with the photos from the 15th. I was preparing to go to The Big Easy for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras. Read the captions for my commentary.

This is by far one of their best flavors (if you like the taste of coffee).

It was just like the old days. I made a quick trip to Dallas. Left IAH in the morning and was back late that evening. I flew to Dallas to do a presentation and represent Legacy on a panel discussion at the TACHC Conference. It was being held at The Westin Galleria.

The Galleria has changed or I have changed. Either I romanticized it as being glitzy or it lost its glitz. It just didn't seem the way I remembered it.

It's been a long time since I've eaten at a Friday's but when you're the victim of Dallas traffic, you take what you can get at DFW.

I found this really cool mural on the side of the building that houses Treebeards.  I love it!

For months, I have been driving past this piece of public art on Montrose Blvd.  It is Funnel Tunnel by artist Patrick Renner.  It has a steel frame and the painted wood is reclaimed wood.  If you're in H-town looking for it, it is on the 1900 block of Montrose.  It's hard to miss.

...I think it was the 17th of May.

Saturday evening I had tickets to see Evita at Theatre Under The Stars.  It's been awhile since I've seen the stage production so I was happy to go when it was suggested by Tall Todd.  Before the show, we  met a couple of friends at Batanga for adult beverages and  tapas.

I parked closer to the theatre and walked over to the restaurant.  On my way, I cut through Market Square and snapped these pics.

On Tuesday, I went to vote early in the Democrat Primary.  I voted early because I will be in New Orleans on Tuesday for Mardi Gras!  On my way back to the car, I noticed some public art.  It was nice to see this pop of colour.
