It was time for The Calvinator's annual exam.  The end of 2012 was a rough time for him and 2013 was spent making sure he took his meds and making sure he didn't get sick.

His bet was very pleased with his progress when she saw him on Monday.  We're going to make a slight change in his medication regimen which may put some change in my pocket.

I don't know how much longer we will be together.  He is 14 but perky.  Everyday is gift.

I walked into Kroger and was immediately struck by the number of balloon ribbons hanging over my head.  Judging by the number of balloons and the special area set up for dipping strawberries in chocolate and the big tent outside for flowers and the number of heart shaped boxes of chocolates it looks like they're hoping to be busy on Single Awareness Day.

Costume Change

I know that one of these days I won't wake up because The Calvinator will have mauled me to death while I'm asleep.  He's not big on wearing clothing so when I do get him to put on an article of clothing, I have to bribe him with Cheez Whiz or peanut butter.

Friday was significant for two reasons.
1. It was Go Red For Women Day.  Everyone was encouraged to wear something red to bring awareness to heart disease.  It is the number one killer of women in the United States.

The Calvinator shows his support of Go Red For Women Day.

2. It was the day of the Opening Ceremony for the 2014 Winter Olympics.  The Calvinator and I watched the pageantry until I fell asleep.  I had to go back and watch the torching lighting on demand.  The pic that I posted of The Calvinator seemed to be quite popular with people on Facebook and Twitter.

What's with the swings in the weather?  Hot to cold.  Cold to hot.  Heater to air conditioning.  Air conditioning to heater.  Dosey doe and swing your partner round 'n round.

Recently we've had some wet, cold weather and it makes me think of this song.

So...Wednesday morning it was time for The Calvinator's morning stroll and I heard a strange noise outside.  I thought it was rain.  I ran to the window and what to my wandering eyes should appear?  Well, it wasn't a miniature sleigh with tiny reindeer.  It wasn't anything I could see.  Yes, it was a bit unusual.

So...I waited until the noise stopped and put the leash on The Calvinator.  We stepped outside and then I realized what the noise was; it was sleet.  However, it was unusual sleet and baby, I know sleet.  It wasn't everywhere.  It was on the windshield of The Cal Mobile and on the steps and it looked more like freeze-dried ice cream.

So I was walking into Kroger and saw these. Always wondered what they are called.  Forsythia.  That's what they're called.

The Victory Fund had a cocktail reception to kickoff table sales for their upcoming brunch on March 16.  I had been at a meeting at Texas Southern University earlier in the evening and was tentative about going to the cocktail party.   I'm glad I attended the party.

It always good to see my peeps.  However,  the house was beautiful!
