It was a rainy day and I made my way to Rice University for breakfast with Houston Mayor Annise Parker. The occasion you ask? It was a breakfast for sponsors of the Hispanic Heritage Month. It was a nice gathering and it's always fun to see familiar faces and meet new people. It was also the first time I was in the Faculty Club at Rice University.

I had never attended the Kinder Institute Annual Luncheon and was given the opportunity to do so.  Recently I've heard that if you want to see what the United States will look like in the future, look at Houston and more specifically look at Fort Bend County.  This is the most ethnically diverse city in America.

I am taking a Continuing Education class at Rice University. We are in the Duncan Building. One evening I noticed a sign stating who had paid for the ceiling. I thought that was a bit unusual and then I looked up and saw a HUGE mosaic. This is the center of it.

Friday was Children's AIDS Day that was put together by The Osito Foundation. It was at Rice University and it brought together many experts in the field. I represented Legacy Community Health Services and passed out teddy bears. Annise Parker showed up to read a proclamation and to share her own stories about being a soldier in the fight against AIDS.
