A 2" x 4" To The Head

Sometimes you need a 2" x 4" to hit you on the side of the head to remind you how good you really have it. I go through periods of my life sucks but in reality it really doesn't. I do have this fear that something will happen to The Calvinator and I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with it. I won't be the first or the last to lose a furry companion. Plus, there are health issues with my mom. She has great set of people in Fort Worth who look after her and help her.

This morning, the woe is me came to a stop when I watched this story about two women who were orphans in South Vietnam and were airlifted to the U.S. It was on CBS Sunday Morning. It documents their trips back to Vietnam and trying to find their mothers. I'll give you a heads up...both stories have very different endings.

However, before I tuned in to CBS Sunday Morning, I was on Facebook and found out that I guy I know lost his wife on Friday. She gave birth to a daughter and then died. Details were not forthcoming. I cannot EVEN imagine what he is going through and what her family is going through. It sounds like a joyous and tragic moment at the same time.

My heart goes out to O.J.

So, I'll put my life in perspective and be thankful for what I have. I really do have a good life.

Pic Of The Day - 12.03.14 - Candlelight

There is something very soothing about candles illuminating a dark room.  These are some religious candles that remind of my Roman Catholic upbringing.  They also represent all of the special intentions.  It's been a rough few weeks not only for me but for family and friends.

Pic Of The Day - 11.14.14 - The Keys To A New Chapter

If you have been following the chronological order of my Pic Of The Day, you will notice two things:
1. Since around September 12, 2014, I started missing days of taking a Pic Of The Day.
2.  Around that same time, my regular posts have been delayed.

I've been a bit preoccupied with work and finding a new place to live.  I was in Rice Military for almost nine years but due to circumstances beyond my control I needed to move.

A bit THANK YOU to David Young with Bamboo Realty for helping me find a place.  He did the leg work for me and helped me find a place.

I picked up the keys on the 14th but didn't start the big move until a week later.

(Another Missing) Pic Of The Day - 11.03.14 - Hello! My Name Is:

Looking back at these photos, I can tell that it really has been a hectic few weeks.  As you see, another pic of the day is missing.

There's A Thing Named "Life"...

and sometimes it gets in the way of blogging.  Quite a bit has been happening during the past two months and all of my spare time has been spent either working, looking for a place to live or moving.  My goal is to be caught up by the end of the year with all of my pics.  And in spite of my crazy schedule, I think I've only missed one day during the past weeks of not taking a photo.  Not bad if you ask me!

Jukebox Wednesday

This past week has been a rollercoaster of a ride. Some highs and some lows. Some good times and some sad times.

I was with my sister to celebrate her 50th Birthday. Also used the time to celebrate Fathers Day. While it was a time for celebrating there was also some sadness. A cousin unexpectedly died. Mixed in with all this are the day-to-day issues that arise not only for me but for my family and friends. Wouldn't it be nice if things never went wrong? Is that so wrong? Just askin'.

For today's Jukebox Wednesday, I have selected one of my favorite Ray Charles songs. Enjoy!

Doors

Doors are funny things. They open; they close. You can see through some and some you cannot see through. Some you have to push and some automatically open. Some are heavier than others. Doors can either let things in or keep things out. And Doors sing.

I've had an odd experience with doors this week. One was closed but then another one opened. Then there was one door that I could see through and I didn't think I liked what I was seeing but I opened it anyway and it hit me in the face...only to make my headache and mood much worse.

All this talk about doors made me think about The Doors. And here is one of my favorite songs by The Doors. (BTW...this was WAY before synthesizers. Gotta love the musicians performing with them.)
